Terms of use and license (EULA)
Last updated: 22 October 2026
These terms are the end user license agreement (EULA) for the Open-HPA apps, in particular HPA Commander, and also govern use of the open-hpa.com website. By installing or using the app you accept these terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use it.
1. Owner
- Owner: Anton Sychev (Sychev-Lab)
- Address: Barcelona, Spain
- Contact email: anton@sychev.xyz
- Websites: https://open-hpa.com and https://lab.sychev.xyz
2. License
We grant you a free, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and use the app on Apple or Android devices you own or control, under the usage rules of the store you downloaded it from (App Store or Google Play).
The app is licensed, not sold. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
3. Restrictions
Unless allowed by law or by an applicable open-source license, you may not:
- Copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app.
- Rent, sell, sublicense or redistribute the app.
- Remove intellectual property notices or use the app for unlawful purposes.
- Use the app or the protocol to modify equipment beyond the legal or safety limits of your country or of the game you play.
4. Protocol and open source
The OpenProtocol-HPA specification, and any firmware or hardware published in open repositories, are governed by the license stated in each repository, which prevails over these terms for that material. You may implement the protocol in your own devices and apps in compliance with those licenses.
“Open-HPA”, “HPA Commander”, “hatBlat”, “Secure Bomb”, “Cyclope ThermalShield”, the logos and the website design belong to Sychev-Lab. You may not use them in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without permission.
5. Safe use and user responsibility
Open-HPA is electronics for airsoft HPA replicas. It is not intended for firearms or any other use. The safety logic lives in the device firmware; the app asks for confirmation before live-fire actions.
You are responsible for:
- Using the device and replica in line with the law, the field rules and proper protective gear.
- Respecting each game's energy and rate-of-fire limits and chronographing the replica after changing settings.
- Following the checklist before a firmware update (trigger released, enough battery and SAFE mode) and not interrupting the update.
- Disconnecting air and battery before handling the electronics.
6. Third-party services and content
The app may show third-party links, manuals or reviews and relies on third-party services (stores, hosting). We don't control that content or those services and aren't responsible for them.
7. Updates and catalog
We may update the app, the device catalog and the firmware to add features, fix bugs or improve safety, and we may remove features or devices. Support for each device depends on its status (alpha, beta or stable), shown on its sheet.
8. Warranty
The app, protocol, catalog and firmware are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Devices in alpha or beta may fail or change.
If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify the relevant store; in Apple's case, Apple's sole warranty obligation is to refund the purchase price, which is zero.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sychev-Lab is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, data loss, damage to replicas, engines, solenoids or batteries, or injuries resulting from misuse, out-of-spec settings or interrupted updates. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, in particular consumer rights.
10. Store terms
- This agreement is between you and Sychev-Lab, not Apple or Google, who are not responsible for the app or its support.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this EULA and may enforce it against you.
- In the event of any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights, Sychev-Lab, not Apple or Google, is responsible for investigating and defending it.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. embargo or on any list of restricted parties.
- You must also comply with the terms of the store you download the app from.
11. Use of the website
The content of open-hpa.com is informational and may change without notice. You may link to and quote it, citing the source. Data processing and the use of cookies on the website are governed by the Privacy policy and the Cookie policy.
12. Termination
The license lasts until terminated by you, by uninstalling the app, or by us, if you breach these terms. On termination you must stop using the app and delete it.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes are submitted to the courts of Barcelona, unless consumer law entitles you to sue where you live.
